I visited U-505 at the Museum of Science and Industry last year to make a study of the equipment in the Radio and Sound Rooms. While I was there I got a behind the scenes tour of the archival material associated with the U-505. There is a standard Kriegsmarine C Plath sextant (as shown on Bill Morris's excellent Bolg https://sextantbook.com/?s=Kriegsmarine ) on display in the sound room and another stored in the archive. Both are the same model. I was excited to learn my Classens and Plath Horizon is a direct descendant.
