Here is a day time Venus observation made from the cockpit of a Catalina 36 sloop going 3-4 knots in light airs and flat sea. Sextant was a C&P with a whole horizon and 4x40mm scope. The observation would have been made easier if a split horizon mirror had been used. Pre-setting altitude and using a hand held compass to find the approximate azimuth was key in finding Venus within the field of view. The 4x40mm scope was essential.
