Gary, I think the problem is that there have been several changes in the definition of a standard atmosphere over the years. It is a problem in external ballistics as well, when using range tables for big guns which are compiled for "the" standard atmosphere (a subject of which I know you are familiar). You have to use the standard atmosphere that was current at the epoch of the range tables for them to be valid.
