    I confirm this too. When my son (who is an amator pilot)
    told me that they use knots everywhere in the world,
    I did not believe him and asked a pilot of a French
    airliner. Indeed, even the French use knots.
    I am still waiting for an opportunity to ask a Russian pilot:-)
