Whenever Frank posts his Venus message I often go outside and look. But I must admit with negative "I will not see it" thoughts. Take today. The sky is blue with not a cloud in sight. There is no wind and the temperature on this spring day is a pleasant 11°C. I cannot see venus without binoculars. I decided not to use them bcause of the risk of accidently pointing them at the sun. I know, I should find a location where the sun is hidden behind a tree or building. Venus is currently near due east (at 1100 NZDST) and I cannot find a suitable location. Maybe I will make a serious attempt when Venus is on the meridian. If I stand in the garage door I can see north while blocking the view of the sun.
Can anyone at 41°S see venus? I would like to know if it is possible (i.e. it is my problem) or if it is not possible.
