Congrats Bruce,
I've had poor LOP's from most angles below 10 degrees. I am shooting from 75-80 feet ASL so perhaps your short horizon distance might have aided in the accuracy. I really don't know the technical details that other may be able to help. I do know that from the bridge of a ship, when the altitude is less than 10 degrees, I have far less confidence in the LOP's accuracy than from bodies that are higher up.
