I have found my silly bug and have linked two versions of the Visual Bygrave Slide Rule simulation. In one version, I have constructed the scales to be Cosine - Cotangent, as advocated by Gary and Ronald. The arc-cotangent is taken to derive the solution, as expected. In the other version, I have constructed the scales to be Secant - Tangent, as advocated by Peter. The arc-tangent is taken to derive the solution, as expected. Unfortunately, this lends absolutely no clarity to which is the correct interpretation of the scales. Both simulations match the results given by my MHR-1 and therefore, either one could still be correct. Needless to say, neither scale construction matches Bygrave's patent, which is Cosine - Tangent.
