I have one in my collection but have never used it much. The whole idea of the ball recording sextant, while interesting in theory, always struck me as something that Wile E. Coyote would have come up with had he been trying to use celestial navigation to help him catch the Roadrunner. I fear that if I try to use it too much, I might fall off of a cliff or an anvil will land on my head.

Does anybody out there own a Mergenthaler Linotype ball recording sextant? I have two and have been practicing with them lately - I would be interested in other's opinions of them.
