Here's a very nice article by science author Trudy E. Bell on the small-scale motions of the pole: https://tbp.org/pubs/Features/Sp16Bell.pdf (sample attached below). These phenomena are all much too small to affect traditional celestial navigation, but high-precision positional astronomy that tries to determine an observer's position with GPS accuracy does have to worry about these small details.
