Dan,
I have several AHs, including two Plaths (the two newer ones, not the firefly), a C&P, a modified A10 and even a Tamaya Cotinuho AH. Far and away my favorite is the C&P "Professional Bubble Sextant." Its bubble is not adjustable, but the reticle in it is designed so that I haven't felt the need to adjust the bubble when switching between daytime and night sights. And while I haven't used a Firefly, my experience with the converted A10 convinces me that the adjustable bubble really isn't needed if one has the C&P.
You can find Fireflies on eBay with some regularity and from other sources, but they will cost you substantially more than the C&P AH costs new ($950) from Celestaire and other sources. And you def don't want a firefly that isn't in perfect working condition as getting it in working order will be a serious and likely costly headache. In fact, if I had my druthers, I would happily get rid of all my AHs except the C&P AH. If you are an instrument collector, the firefly is a really neat artifact, but otherwise I think it is more cost/trouble than it is worth.
Another option is to get someone to fix up the adaptor for your A10. I got mine from a member of this list and the price was immensely reasonable -- a fraction of what any other AH whether Plath or C&P would have cost. If you are interested in connecting with them, drop me a note directly and I will be happy to make the connection for you.
