Frank- One thing can not be denied. It got folks outside, looking up in wonder, asking questions. I've viewed dozens of Lunar eclipses and none of them have had nearly the popular participation as this one. Was it the "Blood Moon"? "The Supermoon"? I railed against the hype all week, but then, anything that got people looking at the sky.... I mean, do you think as many people would have come outside for a Ruby Red Grapefruit Moon? No. The Supermoon was very interesting. I was so excited by the Eclipse, so caught up in the spirit of the evening that I started wondering, "Am I REALLY seeing the Moon as larger? Of course not! Stop it. I slapped myself, shook my head, looked again, "It maybe looks a LITTLE larger... No, it's impossible. IMPOSSIBLE! I tried turning around a few times. I tried sitting, standing stooping-- STILL I wasn't sure that I wasn't noticing a large-ness. I pressed my eyelids. What I thought THAT would do, I have no idea. I turned to my wife. "Honey! Does it look larger to you? huh? huh?" She responds, "If you ask me that ONE MORE TIME....."
We sure had fun last night.
