Good evening John,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I think my Heath was the 130M. I used it for ages, even with the advent of Satnav but made the mistake of selling it when I left the sea. I bought the Watanabe locally through Facebook marketplace as a play and display object. It is in almost perfect condition and feels great in my hand. I gave up the sea to do a nursing degree but then returned for a couple of years to work on an oceanographic research vessel.
Once (1970) I was so happy to be leaving a ship in Karachi to fly to Edinburgh that I left my sextant on the ship and only realised what I had done when I heard and saw the company's agent running through the Karachi airport calling out my name - he deserved his baksheesh whilst I deserved a good kick up the bum.
All the best,
David
