That's all been covered. Somehow you missed the previous couple of posts, perhaps because Mike changed the subject slightly. Mike stated that he thought the source was wrong in his original message. I agreed and asked him what the source was, which is why he quoted that section from Cunliffe's book. It's clearly incorrect. Height of eye should be height of eye above the mean wave crests (suitably defined!).
