This reminds me of Vulcan low-level. The Nav-Plotter had to dot in our position from his ground position indicator onto his chart every so many minutes. I can’t remember how often; every five minutes say. We had to be within a certain distance of track; say half a mile. Our plotter was coming in for close scrutiny, because his dots were alternating between on-the-limit left to on-the-limit right. He was taken into the Plotter Leader’s office where it was explained to him in a fatherly way that if he dotted in his position as he crossed track he would appear for the record be on track most of the time.
