Subject: [NavList] Weems talk Thursday at Mystic Seaport

I hope to see some NavList members Thursday evening at Mystic Seaport. Some of you will recall that Roger Connor has posted here about P.V.H. Weems. I mentioned his presentation scheduled for this week back in November. Here are some details:
"Thursday, March 3, 2016, Roger Connor, Curator, National Air and Space Museum
By the Stars to Victory: Making Aerial Celestial Navigation Practical Between the World Wars
Although radar and electronic navigation aids came into their own for air navigation during World War II, so did adaptations of maritime celestial navigation techniques. The story of how the tried-and-true celestial navigation techniques of mariners came to play a central role in World War II was not one of simply taking sextants and chronometers aloft. Roger Connor will tell the story of P.V.H. Weems, one of the principal architects of reliable airborne celestial navigation methods and how these techniques took center stage in wartime.
Programs are at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m (identical). Hosted at the River Room at Latitude 41° Restaurant. Tickets are $15 for members, $20 for non-members, and students are admitted for free. Register by calling 860.572.5331." Tickets can also be purchased at the door. For those uncertain of the location, go to Latitude 41.36385° N, Longitude 71.96347° W.
I will be attending the evening event. I should be there by 7:15. Afterward, for anyone who can join me, it is my understanding that there's beer in Mystic.
