Hello Ian:
Your maps and charts are truly interesting and precious to your
family. My wife’s family (Bourne) were whalers out of Fairhaven and then
New Bedford. In my wife’s family homestead in Bourne, MA , there are all
sorts of relics, but I’ve never thought about looking for log books. I will look
next time I’m in the house. There are ancient telescopes, scrimshaw etc. I
bet I could find out the names of Captain Bourne’s ships.
Thanks for postings, most interesting.
If you ever want to practice with a sextant send me a private email or
call.
