    Philip,
It?s not very simple. The list is the people who participate in it. And
because of that there is an ever so slight difference between the two lists.
One, the new one is more public and found by people just starting out. It is
easer to find that list because it sits were people are looking for the list,
on a search engine that encourages people to search for there hobbies or
interests. Is this bad? I am not sure, but it does bring the specter of
suppressing some of the traditional conversation at the expense of having a
greater participation from a wider audience.

The old list is, and this is just my thoughts in trying to answer the
question, populated by math and science minds and sees less of the end user
in navigation. It is not marketed and is hard to find unless you have had
some exposure to the subject already. The beginner tends not to be on this
list. The down side to this is that the list depends for its personality on
just a few people and it can disappear like any low volume population with a
minor change to the environment. Sounds like a microcosm of the real word
    doesn?t it.

I have joined the other list and still I find things on this one and I can?t
give you a sound rational reason to resist the change. Frank has made a spam
proof identity for me on the new list and spam was my only articulated reason
to not join the new list. At this point I think the end is in sight and I am
just hanging out to see who has the last word on the old list and then turn
out the lights when I leave. It has become a group watching a building, a
landmark building, burn to the ground and wondering why the fire department
    couldn?t save it.
Good luck and all the best,
    Robert Gainer
