I think it is a good idea to have at least one plastic sextant onboard a small craft because it is less prone to corrosion. In the latest GGR around the world race that required celestial navigation the winner of the race had both of his metal sextants lock up because of corrosion. My small craft choice for sextants would be a Tamaya Venus 3/4 size metal sextant with a Davis MK 15 or MK 25 plastic as a backup.
