David, have you looked at Jimmy Cornell's book on major cruising routes? He goes
into routes, options, best times, for sailing all over the world. The book has
been out for a while and several revisions now IIRC so should be available both
new and used. He doesn't have big charts in it, but yes, the routes are all on
pen-and-ink drawings in the inside covers.
