Look at the way that sextant manufacturer's put extra kit into the case. Each item has a stow location and a method to secure it in that location. Unless the additional items you wish to add are securely stowed within the box, they become a hazard to your optics and mirrors. Imagine the thrill of a cracked lens or scratched mirror.

What you mentioned looks like a very good "drag-up kit, though you might consider adding he following items.
Mechanical pencil (Pentil perhaps) and some leads.
Paper and an eraser.None of the above would take up much space.
