No hard feelings on my part - I am probly wrong. I made my wood sextant more than 40 years ago. I tested it by comparing the angles measured by it to the angles I measured by my theodilite. Not like a profesonal would do and not every degree on the scale - just random points.
I have a small hobby machine shop in my barn and make a lot of modles, steam engines and stuff. I have made many rotating devices that are held to 1/1000 inch at the axle. My coments are based on my own, hands on working and not a mathamatical analiss. I just think things can be built tight at home.
