    I think if we’re to have more of these puzzles, people ought to be prepared to show their work or at least indicate the method used to achieve their result so that the dinosaurs amongst us can see where we went wrong and learn the latest techniques.  I arrived at position 01 24’N 172 58’W, which for sharpened chocolate bar navigation I’m moderately happy with.  I ran down dec 19° for 0°N and 1°N in AP3270(HO249) Vol 2 until I found a likely Hc and LHA.  Subtracting LHA west from GHA suggested a likely area for placing an assumed position.  Of course it ended up as plus LHA east.  My results (with several rubbings out) are attached below.  In my form of navigation offering fixes to half a minute accuracy from a 30° cut would be very optimistic. The position reminds us of the Battle of Tarawa 20-23rd November 1943 DaveP
