Hello Frank,
If you flip the image horizontally, the island that looks lke a 7 now looks like like Corfu / Kerkyra, and the peninsulas that now lie West of it look like the "heel" and the "toe" of the Italian "boot", with the gulf of Tarento between them. If this is correct, we are flying over the Mediterranean.
