The Teddies have more or less given up on a celestial solution for longitude. They say if they only had a date and ideally a time, they might be able to do something with a fix from Vega and Eltanin, but the big old teddy, who’s a bit ‘old school’, says they’d be wasting their time, because the cut would never be more than 20 degrees and frequently much less. Turning to contemporary intelligence, which suggests heavy advertising in North America of the T-Mobile – Starlink communications partnership, they suggest the observer is on the 56th Parallel, probably Western Canada, possibly Alberta because of the absence of sizeable easily got to locations elsewhere. The big old teddy says “What’s wrong with estimating Vega at 6 or 7 degrees? Then it could be McBeth’s Hillock.” (groans from the rest of them).
They were hoping more people would have had a crack at this by now. They’re unsure if their calculations are so far off nobody has the heart to correct them, or they’re so ‘spot on’ everyone is standing back in amazement. DaveP
