The filters on a Ebbco sextant has become useless.
I want to replace them with Baader Solarfilter. In The Netherlands I can buy two different foil types on A4 format.
ND 3,8 the LT (Light transmission) = 1/1000
Actually, ND 3.8 is about 1/6,800
ND 5,0 the LT = 1/100000
This is what you would need as a stand alone filter when looking at the full sun, though in cloudy or misty conditions it may be too much.
Since the Ebbco has three filters for the index mirror and two filters for the horizon mirror, I would put one of each in both the index and horizon filter set.
