The procedure becomes:
Calculate
Pol{ [ cos(Lat) · sin(Dec) - sin(Lat) · cos(Dec) · cos(LHA) ] , [-cos(Dec) · sin(LHA) ] }
and thenHc = cos-1 r and θ = Zn
I decided to try this method with an example from the Is there a doctor....... thread. I was interested to see if the method worked for dlong = 110°. I am using a Casio fx-82AU calculator and have a problem with editing the Pol() expression. Before someone suggests it I did RTFM (to learn how to enter a , ) but the manual does not help with the editing problem.
On the fx-82AU an expression can be edited by using the left/right arrows. Other expressions can be displayed by using the up/down arrows. The problem is that the P() function has two results and the left/right arrows are used to scroll the answer. The up arrow displays the previous expression. I cannot find a way to escape the Pol() answer and return to editing the Pol() expression. Once I have pressed the = key I cannot edit the expression.
I cannot believe that an otherwise excellent calculator would have such a design deficiency so what am I doing wrong?
