Only as an anecdote.
I was visiting Lisboa twice. Near the "Torre de Belém" and the "Monasterio de los Jerónimos" are the "Monument Gago Coutinho e Sacadura Cabral" and the "Museu de Marinha". There are several Coutinho sextants.
