Interesting! The FCC prohibits US citizens from receiving radio signals that (presumably) meet international spectrum regulations. Imagine the uproar if China banned GPS.
I have just checked my phone down here at 41S 175E and all four GNSS networks are in use. My phone probably came direct to NZ from China and no restrictions have been applied to the hardware. If the restriction is applied at the app level then that implies that the US is putting pressure on app developers outside the US. Scary!
I do not like being a conspiracy theorist. Maybe someone can apply Occums Razor and come up with a simple explanation of what is happening?
