For home bound practice from my front walk I have a single laminated page with 249 volume 1 pages for 35 degrees latitude. It's very fast but only has 7 stars available. It might be a problem if clouds cover all but one point of light in the sky. I learned navigation using 229 and though it uses more small steps I make fewer errors. Having made many comparison reductions, 229 comes just a bit nearer to GPS than 249. At sea the differences would surely be trivial. I have yet to try the 3 volume 249 that can be used for moon and Sun. Try downloading and printing Ho 208. Once I learned to use it I became a fan.
