Re: Why do we ocean navigators defer to 249 when 229 isbetter?

Sorry - I was only reporting the information I had available to me.  See  http://universal-extractor.en.lo4d.com/virus-malware-tests .  Unfortunately AVG is not one of the 25 programs that say that the file is virus- and malware-free, and now I find as many sites that say it contains adware as say it does not.

In any case, this program, Universal Extractor 1.6.1, is not an installer for Celestial Tools but a compressed file extractor, capable of decompressing the RAR archive CelestialTools460.rar.  Any program that can decompress RAR files will do the job.  If you do not have one or cannot find one that works to your satisfaction, I would be happy to send you the 600K zipped version (which webs.com does not allow me to post unless I pay for the premium version of their site).  The zipped version is also available at
        http://www.usps.org/eddept/n/tools.htm
but I'm not sure if you can access that site without being a USPS member.

Norton antivirus users be forewarned:  Versions of Norton will detect Celestial Tools as a virus or malware (I forget which).  This is pure BS.  Norton is the king of false positives because it uses a "heuristic algorithm", their way of saying that if it doesn't recognize a program it says it is a problem.  I have tried to get Celestial Tools put on the Norton/Symantec white list, but they have no interest in a program that gets downloaded so seldom.  I have had no reports of false positives from any security program other than Norton.

Once the executable is extracted from the ZIP or RAR archive, no installation is necessary - just run the executable.

    Stan

Went to the website reference, celstialtools, etc.  and it directed me to a mirror site to download the installer, sadly when I tried to run the installer this is what my anti-virus told me:
Adware Generic_r AVG detects this highly active Adware and its 338 known variants.
Therefore, despite Celestialtools guaranteeing the download to be virus and malware free, it isn't, or did they imply that you got a free virus and malware if you downloaded it?
It is sad what malicious and evil people there are out in cyberspace who just ruin a nice download experience for those of us looking to learn and expand our knowledgebase.  This is why I still love the book and the printed word.
Books can mildew and warp, but they won't crash your boat's electrics or electonics.
