In my previous post I meant to write that Mr Fryer had the octant that is typically mentioned in accounts of the mutiny.

After his return to England, Bligh was less than candid about a few details. He had a Ramsden sextant and Mr Fryer a sextant. They also had a watch and a copy of Moore's Practical Navigator.Don Seltzer
