I've got a lady-friend who's really interested in
learning celnav - definitely A Good Thing®... :-)
One thing that I've used to motivate her interest is the fact that there
have been some excellent women navigators over the years - I mentioned that one
of my favorite celnav texts was written by a woman ("Practical Celestial
Navigation" by Susan P. Howell), and found out today from reading a review on
Amazon that the Flying Cloud (of tall-ships fame) had a woman as her navigator (http://tinyurl.com/qa5j2).
Does anyone have any other good examples that I could toss at her? She's
really interested in this stuff, though I think at this point she's just a
little unsure if she can really handle something that might seem to be a "guy
thing" at first glance.
