Using the procedure described in John Karl's book, I get 3:21:10, which is in a nice agreement with Antoine's and Frank's results.

    Antoine,
For the Moon-Mars lunar observation example which you quoted, the calculator on my web site gives a best time of 03:21:08.5 compared to yours of 03:21:09.4. That difference is completely insignificant so your result is excellent.

If you would like to run some more examples and test them againt my online lunars calculator (which has been well "battle-tested" over the past five years), go here: http://www.historicalatlas.com/lunars/ and click on "Clear a Lunar Online".

PS: I apologize that your message was slightly scrambled (various characters replaced by "?"). This is a bug which I believe will be fixed in a few days when some new software goes live.
