I was just about to write a post suggesting using color, or at least shading, in another context (graphical correction tables for slowly-varying ephemeris adjustments). While we can accept the idea of being a little antiquarian in the construction of tables, we should certainly take advantage of the advances in printing in the past twenty years. Color printing is normal and cheap. But be aware that you can run into issues with accessibility since many people are color-blind in various ways. Also font variations can be used to add information, as long as this is explained clearly.
