Frank with regard to your question on the refraction correction, what about altitude.

Recently during one of my insomnia episodes, I was watching some documentary on the Hindenburg disaster one of the officers was using what appeared to be a marine sextant to obtain what I suspect was a latitude

I know there are aircraft sextants used back in the day during the 30's and 40's but this was definitely a marine sextant so my question is, what correction did they use, calculated or table
