Bearing in mind the degree of accuracy we can expect, I don’t think we need worry too much about a line through The Pointers not being exactly vertical. Thinking of Dube being on the tip of a pendulum pivoted at the pole, the vertical distance to be added to alt Dube to calculate latitude is a function of the cosine of the angle between The Pointers and the vertical. E.g. if the difference from the vertical is 5°, you would add on 99.6% of codec Dube. If the difference is 10°, you would add on 98.5% of codec Dube. DaveP
