The 17 August date was correct but you're right that was two weeks ago. The four hours on, eight hours off watch schedule definitely messes with my sense of time...
However, you got the latitude 59.1°N spot on, Frank! Although our longitude was 10.6°W, just to the west of Lake Vänern in the Oslofjord as we sailed from Oslo into Skagerrak and then around the southern tip of Norway to our destination near Stavanger. I wonder if you adjust for the tilt in the horizon that other folks noted if that would shift your computed position to match the real one.
Here are some day time photos so you can enjoy the Draken without getting soaking wet and covered in tar. It's a really challenging ship -- there's no "below decks" to get dry and we need all thirty of us to hoist or furl the main (and only) sail as well as to tack in any sort of winds, so most maneuvers are an "all hands on deck" wakeup for the off watch (who were trying to get some sleep in the hot-racks inside the tent behind the mast).
