    As you state:

I haven't thought this through in detail, but it should allow for much faster calibration of a Bris device. Note that this would provide a Bris with "pure" angular calibration (altitude corrections would have to be applied, but that's not tough)."

    I have been down the calibration road comparing Bris vs. sextant with only some success. All that I have been able to do is get approximate Hs values. This is helpful for timing when to be at the sea shore only though. Some type of mounting method for a camera might work. Hand held Bris vs. sextant is tough.
