Neither paper nor electronic charts (maps) show the difference between day and night. Neither do they show weather. Night, fog, cloud, rain, smoke, obscure detail. Sudden snow makes lakes disappear, changes major railway lines and big roads into single tracks, and hides bridges and forests. Forget yellow arrows.
Cancel, or only go after meticulous planning, you say. Not if you're scrambled.
Traditional wayfinding. Good luck if you're a kid, and on your own.
