I had mentioned the book, "Marine Navigation Instruments", by Jean Randier, published in French in 1977, and in English translation in 1980, saying " I don't think it's been discussed on this list before." Chuck Taylor put me right, as follows- | This book was previously mentioned on this list in | November 2004: | | http://www.i-DEADLINK-com/lists/navigation/0411/0072.html | | George himself also mentioned it in August 2005: | | http://www.i-DEADLINK-com/lists/navigation/0508/0001.html | | By the way, one can easily search this list's archives | using Google. I found those two articles with the | query | | Randier site:www.i-DEADLINK-com | | where "www.i-DEADLINK-com" is of course the site where our | archives reside. Thanks, Chuck. It just shows how bad my memory has got. But it also shows how wonderful Google is at searching, if you know how to work it. It's a lesson I will (try to) remember. And I enjoyed that story, in the November 2004 quote, about the sandglass.
