Peter-
Speaking of approaching slowly and using the
old tools (Mark I Eyeball)....it was only some months ago that a US nuclear
submarine ran into a seamount in the Pacific. Apparently doing a speed run
silently, and oops....that seamount was in a very empty place that hadn't been
recently charted, or so the Navy said.
Cover story for a ramming? Who knows. But
their story is that a seamount jumped up and rammed a submarine, and they're
sticking to it.<G>
