There is a lot of information available for free. The (old) list archive is full of it. There are also quite a few not so expensive books you might find helpful. If there are any courses available in your part of the world that would also be worth considering - learning from a book could be a harder option. There is an event coming up on the north eastern coast of the USA that may be relevant, it should attract quite a few people who share your interest.
