Skulking about at my local library today, came upon the following title. Strikes me that some here might find the subject of interest.
Title: A Short Bright Flash, subtitle: Augustin Fresnel And The Birth of The Modern Lighthouse, by Theresa Levitt.
Mr. Fresnel's lense is still used, in among who knows what else, theatrical lighting applications.
