Cape Canaveral?  I can see it from my balcony!  Shoal waters extend out seven nautical miles, causing numerous wrecks until a lighthouse was erected in 1868.   The lighthouse, once extremely isolated, is now nestled among the launch pads at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center.   I’m an occasional docent at the lighthouse.  It’s a nice piece of Florida history, and it’s the only lighthouse owned by the U.S. Air Force (operated by the U.S. Coast Guard).

    Frank,

    Nice example and detective work.

Yes, I missread May 14th's latitude. I should have figured out there was a big mistake when the distance sailed in a day was so unreasonable.

A "New England" destination implies concetutive days sailing puts them on a NNW heading and not SSW as my interperation suggests.
On Day 634, their latitude is a little north of Cape Canaveral, Florida.
