Back in December 2008 I wrote a series of posts comparing the various tabular methods of sight reduction and links to those posts are included here. I have been referred to another set of tables, the Hughes Tables, so I decided to work the same sample problem with the Hughes Tables and I have attached the computation. Comparing the Hughes solution to the Weems solution you will see that the computation of altitude is exactly the same as in Weems and the calculation of azimuth is the same as that calculation in Dreisonstok. Tables 1, 2, & 3 of Hughes takes up 130 pages, Dreisontok is 85 pages and Weems is only 26 pages. All the books are the same size except for the number of pages. gl http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106744&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106745&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106785&y=200812 http://fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106760 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106702&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106700&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106704&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106705&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106707&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106720&y=200812 http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=106760&y=200812 |
