An index card is handy when performing sight reduction with a trig/log table. I set my card up with pre computed entries that are good for a few hours of Sun celestial. The highlighted portions of the attached index card photos show what can be pre calculated before an observation is performed. The remaining computations can be performed at a leisurely pace in less than four minutes. The result is accurate to four places even when the the SIN product is calculated by slide rule. I like the trig/log tables because they are compact enough to fit into my sextant case along with a K&E 4070-3 slide rule . --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
