It appears that I wrote, as part of an earlier message- ============================= " ...First, is it really a genuine problem, affecting many Nav-L members? Second, am I right in diagnosing it as a spam-filter problem? Second, can we at least be sure when we are missing messages? ..." =============================== Sorry about that. Always did have trouble in counting as far as three. Dan didn't respond to that part of my mailing that suggested appending a serial number to Nav-L messages. I wonder how practical that would be? Do any other lists do that? A serial message-number would have another benefit, as well as telling us whether a message had got lost. Being a long way off from the sender, my Nav-L messages get to me by a variety of routes; some quicker than others. As a result, I often see a posting of the quick-response to a question, before I see the question itself. An attached message-number would help them to be put in the right order. Dan suggests changing the filter criteria to allow through any message that has "Nav-L" as part of its header, even if it's been classed as suspected spam, and if that can be done, it's obviously worthwhile and will solve my Nav-L problems. But there's a wider issue, of other messages arriving from other sources, that I want to see, and how to avoid the baby being discarded with the bathwater. And there's another problem. How can I ensure that emails that I send to others have not got discarded, in transit, as wrongly identified spam? Presumably, no bounce message comes back, and neither I, nor the recipient, is aware that the message has got lost. These must be common problems, and I wonder if others have achieved satisfactory solutions. Advice requested, please.
