I asked for author and title.
I now have found out and ordered one.
David Barrie; Sextant: A Voyage Guided by the Stars and the Men Who Mapped the World's Oceans.
Some well-known references.
I have two "sextant books" earlier:
Bruce Bauer; The SEXTANT HANDBOOK.
W.J. Morris; The NAUTICAL SEXTANT
There is a short story on the www:
Peter Ifland; The History of the Sextant.
I have not read his book:
Taking the Stars: Celestial Navigation from Argonauts to Astronauts.
Most textbooks on CN have a sextant chapter sometimes with a short historical introduction.
