Rating a chronometer. Would the ship have had a chronometer in 1840?
Longitude of ship estimated from 3 miles off Point ???(cannot read it). Long of point ?? must be known.
Five sights taken about noon and averaged. Assumed error of chron at start of observation 3min 53 sec.
Long by Chron calculated and compared with ship's estimated long.
Observed error of chronometer 4 min 43 seconds.
