    Thank you. I would expect the Bernecky/Minelli time sight product with 30 special pages to have an advantage over the Doniol/Haversine layout with only 7 pages.

    A complication is that if you already have log haversine /versine and log sin tables on board for other reasons, the Doniol method can be used anyway, and those log tables also used for a multitude of other CN problems.

    A time sight formula avoiding calculators is:

    Ver LHA = [ Ver ZD - Ver (Lat +or- Dec)] divided by (Cos Lat x Cos Dec)

    If you wish to avoid logs and calculators altogether, a fabricated Bygrave tubular slide rule works in blustery conditions, but cannot manage a time sight.
